Seventh Heaven

The Writers’ Bloc is back with its seventh episode and this one will have listeners in seventh heaven. The episode is packed with the latest works from the best in UNCW authors. Listen in and join us to hear Jerry Pope reading from his short story “Rabbit Season” followed by a roundtable discussion with Andrew Browning and Shane Combs as they delve into the bestselling nonfiction title "On Writing" by the modern day master of the macabre, Stephen King. Also on hand at the end of the segment will be a new format for The Writers’ Bloc - a yet-to-be titled informal talk show created by host and The Writers’ Bloc founder Rachel Arredondo. Personal Stories

Don’t be like Comte de Lautreamont who said “I will leave no memoirs.” The Writers’ Bloc is interested in hearing your personal memoirs. From now until 18 March, the Writers’ Bloc is accepting memoirs to be read over the airwaves on UNCW’s Hawkstream Radio. There is no minimum length but the maximum on-air time devoted to the memoirs will be 20 minutes. Perfect for any current or former students of creative non-fiction classes, memoirs are a chance to express to listeners your personal and interesting life stories. The Writers' Bloc International

The Writers’ Bloc has gone international. Do you speak fluently in another language? Are you interested in reading foreign language writings and broadcasting them over UNCW’s Hawkstream Radio? From now until 25 March The Writers’ Bloc is accepting submissions of foreign language writings for an upcoming foreign-themed episode. Submissions can be of any length or genre and can either be personal writings or translations of existing writings from copyright-free sources such as http://www.gutenberg.org. Upcoming Writers' Bloc Episode

Coming this Friday, 11 February 2011, The Writers' Bloc will air its newest episode packed with discussions, readings and the latest works by UNCW authors. There will be a round-table conversation with Shane Combs and Andrew Browning, hosted by Rachel Arredondo, discussing senior seminars and editing. Trey Alber will also be on hand to read and discuss his poetry. In addition, Mary Sue Proveaux will be holding her own news spot and editorial feature.
