Writers Bloc Technical Difficulties

Due to ongoing problems with the technical equipment involved in the streaming of The Writers Bloc episodes over the air, shows will be postponed until the further notice. In the meantime as there are no problems with the actual recording equipment submissions are still being accepted. So submit your work and a recording session will be made.

The Writers Bloc Episode 11


The memoir/nonfiction episode airing today, Friday, will feature: Tyler Loftis, Mary Sue Murrary-Preveaux, and Nicole Ayes. It will air at the normal time from 10:00-11:00 AM. The episode will upload to the website by 5:00 PM this afternoon.

Individual recordings are now available for your convenience under the Individual Recordings page. You can search and listen to the authors stories and poetries without having to listen to an entire show. Although interview with the authors and discussions will only be available on the full episodes under the Past Shows page. So go forth and listen!

In other news, if you have not been attending the MFA Thesis Readings you should. They are excellent writers and very enjoyable to listen too. Here are the remaining dates:

Celebrate the release of the spring issue of UNCW's creative magazine. There will be live painting, artwork mounted from the contributor's, poetry readings, and live performances by Vonnegutrade, Coup de Grace, King Beard, and David Adusei.

Seventh Heaven

The Writers’ Bloc is back with its seventh episode and this one will have listeners in seventh heaven. The episode is packed with the latest works from the best in UNCW authors. Personal Stories

Don’t be like Comte de Lautreamont who said “I will leave no memoirs.” The Writers’ Bloc is interested in hearing your personal memoirs. From now until 18 March, the Writers’ Bloc is accepting memoirs to be read over the airwaves on UNCW’s Hawkstream Radio. There is no minimum length but the maximum on-air time devoted to the memoirs will be 20 minutes. Perfect for any current or former students of creative non-fiction classes, memoirs are a chance to express to listeners your personal and interesting life stories. The Writers' Bloc International

The Writers’ Bloc has gone international. Do you speak fluently in another language? Are you interested in reading foreign language writings and broadcasting them over UNCW’s Hawkstream Radio? Upcoming Writers' Bloc Episode

The Third Writers Bloc Episode

Coming out this Friday will be the first show of the spring semester and the third Writers Bloc episode. It will feature a poem and short story by Jeremy Deal follwed by a short interview and an editorial piece by Mary Sue Proveaux-Murray on signing for an Avett Brothers concert followed by an interview and discussion. This will be an interesting view into how the deaf community accesses and enjoys music.

Also the last semester ended before the third chapter of 88 from the novel excerpt by Amelia Driscoll could be played so the chapter will be played at the end of the episode in case anybody wants to listen to the stories in order. The previous two chapters can be found in the Online Episodes page on the second episode.

Welcome to The Writers Bloc website here you can find information concerning submissions and authors. Also past episodes are available online and links for downloading past episodes. Above are tabs for navigating the various aspects.

Under Online Episodes for some reason the first link is not playing. The second one works. I am looking for a way to remedy the problem on the first. In the meantime if you want to listen to it you can also click the download link. The links directs you to esnips.com were you can listen to the episode online.
